Appeal for Nomination of Joint Treasurer, FOGSI 2020

To,

Dear Presidents & Secretaries of Fogsi Societies,

Greetings from Mumbai!

You cannot create experience.
You have to undergo it.
- Albert Camus.

I hope you are safe and fine in this Covid19 Lockdown period. Please take care of your self, staff and family members. I would like to briefly introduce myself to you. I am Professor Dr Niranjan Chavan. My association with Mumbai Obstetrics & Gynaecological Society (MOGS) as life member dates back to1992. I got elected as Managing Council Member of MOGS in1997. Since then, I have spend 15 years in the managing council of MOGS & presently I am the office bearer in the capacity of Secretary & Vice President Elect, MOGS.

These 23 years, serving MOGS helped me, actively getting involved with FOGSI since 2003, where I was given the responsibility to be the West Zone, Co-ordinator of Safe Motherhood Committee, Medicolegal Committee & Norms & Nomenclature committee respectively till 2011, by my esteemed mentors & seniors. In 2012, I got elected as Chairperson, Oncology & TT Committee and this gave me opportunity & immense pleasure interacting with you several times over the years in various capacities as FOGSI Chairperson (Jan.2012-Jan.2015), Convener (2015-2016), Member of Violence Against Doctors (VAD) FOGSI Cell (2017-2020), Secretary MOGS (2019-2020) & National Coordinator, FOGSI Medical Disorder in Pregnancy Committee (2019 -2022). I have pleasant memories of meeting you at different conferences across the country and Mumbai and I cherish the personal moments of interaction.

As chairperson of FOGSI Oncology Committee for 3 years, I organised 3 Zonal conferences, more then 250 CME’s all over India, edited FOGSI FOCUS on ‘Preventive Oncology’ which was awarded Dr D. C. Dutta Best Publication award, and edited 3 FOGSI newsletters. I also was bestowed with FOGSI Mrs. Chandravati Devi Jagannath Singh Prize for the best paper on Oncology at Varanasi AICOG 2012 for removal of 28 weeks ovarian tumour in pregnancy by laparoscopy with successful pregnancy outcome – a rare interesting case in India. It received lot of media coverage in print and television which gave me a boost to conduct research on adnexal masses in pregnancy and cervical cancer screening of 36,100 women by pap smear from 2011 to 2016 - A 5 year study.

After my chairmanship of FOGSI Oncology Committee, I was given the responsibility to be Convener of FOGSI VAD Cell in 2015, which I took up and designed the Algorithm for safety of our Fogsians, It got approved by the FOGSI managing committee and has been circulated to all the local societies. Presently as National Coordinator of FOGSI Medical Disorders In Pregnancy Committee since January 2019, Dr Komal Chavan & myself have organised more then 70 CMEs involving local society Presidents and Secretaries from all over India and released FOGSI Newsletter ‘Buzz & Bytes’ and Poster on ‘Hypertensive Disorders in Pregnancy’ at the recently concluded FOGSI Managing Committee meeting at Lucknow AICOG 2020, Lucknow

During the Covid19 lockdown period, I have moderated 20 plus live FOGSI/MOGS TOG Webinars with national & international faculties on various topics. It has become superhit among fogsians and I appreciate your patronage. I am also the first Indian to be on the Editorial Board of ‘European Journal of Gynaecologic Oncology’ since 2016 and have edited 2 Text books, 9 FOGSI/MOGS/AFG Newsletters & published more then 30 scientific peer reviewed papers in National and International Journal. I have received more then 15 FOGSI & MOGS awards and prizes till date. I am attaching my brief CV for your kind attention and reference.

It is my dream to make a difference in women’s health and I hope you would be a part of this journey with me. I am sure, together we will make a difference towards achieving greater heights in improving the indicators of maternal health & reproductive parameters. I appeal to you for your moral support and encouragement to serve our esteemed FOGSI organisation and I promise that, I will do my best to come upto your expectation.

I request you to support my endeavour and kindly nominate me for the post of JOINT TREASURER from your ESTEEMED society.

Please treat this email letter of appeal as my personal request to you.

Yours Faithfully,

Dr. Niranjan Chavan
